Doctrine/ Teaching

“And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.”  Luke 4:32

The word “doctrine” simply means teaching or instruction.
It is the process by which the Word of God is taught, exhorted, and ministered to every believer. It is our faith communicated to others and the means by which we live our lives.

When Jesus was on earth, his public ministry consisted of teaching in the synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom. Teaching should be primary and prevalent in the church. It’s a fundamental and necessary discipline for growth, maturity, and victorious living.

Hosea 4:6 says “my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge:” The knowledge of the Most High and His ways are as important as breathing.

The Word of God (Bible) is our foremost resource for instruction, teaching, edification, and correction. This is stated similarly in 2 Timothy 3:16.

Lastly, we are to abide and fulfill our lives in the doctrine of Jesus Christ. This goes beyond our preferences, culture, or social norms. Whoever remains in this doctrine has the benefit and blessing of both the Father and the Son. (2 John 1:9)
